Section of State Route 50 in Hickman County to Reopen

Wednesday, December 22, 2010 | 09:53am
NASHVILLE – A portion of State Route 50 in Hickman County, closed since last Friday, will reopen at 6:00 p.m. this evening following repairs to a section of road damaged by the May floods. Heavy rains during the flood event caused a large drainage pipe beneath the road to collapse.

Since the closure began, crews excavated approximately 4,000 tons of rock and dirt material to reach the damaged pipe, which was located more than 40 feet below the surface. Once the new pipe was installed, the roadway was reconstructed and re-paved.
