TDOT and Knoxville Officials meet with South Knoxville Businesses

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Next month the Henley Bridge will close for 24 to 30 months for an extensive rehabilitation project. Meanwhile, motorists, residents and visitors will need to know how to access South Knoxville businesses between the Henley Bridge and Moody Avenue. The Tennessee Department of Transportation has launched an extensive community outreach program to include community presentations, public service announcements and printed materials to explain the detour. TDOT is also working with local leaders to spread the word that while the bridge may be closed, South Knoxville is open for business.

 

City Councilman Nick Pavlis and Knoxville’s Urban Growth Manager Rick Emmett have created a website devoted to raising awareness about the Downtown South Business District and what it offers consumers. Councilman Pavlis and Rick Emmett will join TDOT staff on Thursday, December 9 at 5:00 p.m. to share the latest details with business owners in the Downtown South Business District.
