NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will have a strong presence at the National Wild Turkey Federation 34th Annual Convention and Sport Show which will be held Friday-Sunday (Feb. 19-21) at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center.

TWRA staff will be present to sell the new 2010-11 hunting and fishing licenses which became available on Feb. 18 at its booth. Additionally, biologists will be available to landowners to discuss the possibility of creating better wildlife habitat on their property.

“TWRA and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service will be manning a joint private lands habitat booth,” said Mark Gudlin, TWRA private lands liaison. “Various habitat publications will be available.”

Private lands biologists will provide technical advice and will also be able to download aerial imagery of farm and develop management recommendations to improve wildlife habitat.

“They (the biologists) will also be able to guide you to various state and federal conservation programs that potentially can help defray your habitat improvement costs,” said Guilin. “A native grass seed drill, spray rig and other management tools will also be on display.”

The TWRA booth is No. 150 which is located at the rear of the convention center upon entrance of the display area. The TWRA will have additional information available for convention attendees. In addition to TWRA representatives, The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation and the Scholastic Clay Target Program are also sharing the location.

The convention is being held in Nashville for the second consecutive year after a record attendance of 43,000 over three days in 2009. More than 500 vendor booths will be present along with specials performances and events scheduled during the three days.
