Weekly Construction Report for East Tennessee - February 18 - 24

COCKE COUNTY, I-40 East near the North Carolina State Line: I-40 remains closed near the North Carolina state line due to a rockslide in North Carolina. I-40 East is closed just east of the Waterville Exit (Exit 451). I-40 thru traffic should follow I-81 North (Exit 421) to I-26 East (Exit 57A), however, all exits on I-40 in Tennessee are open and accessible.

JEFFERSON, HAMBLEN AND GREENE COUNTY, I-81 Northbound: On Thursday night, February 18, 2010 between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. the following morning, there will be one lane closed on I-81 southbound in Jefferson and Hamblen County between Mile Markers 10 and 7. One lane will remain open.  
 
KNOX COUNTY, SR 131 (Lovell Road) Ramp to Southbound SR 162 (Pellissippi Parkway): The ramp from Lovell Road (SR 131) to Southbound Pellissippi Parkway (SR 162) is closed for construction until late Spring 2010. Motorists wishing to access Southbound Pellissippi Parkway (SR 162) should follow the signed detour to Murdock Drive/Dutchtown Road back to Pellissippi Parkway. Motorists wishing to access I-40 should follow Lovell Road to the I-40 interchange. 
 
KNOX COUNTY, Southbound SR 162 (Pellissippi Parkway) approaching Lovell Road (SR 131): Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, narrowed lanes, reduced speed limit and workers present in this area.  Motorists should also be alert for potential delays.
 
KNOX COUNTY, SR 1 Kingston Pike over Norfolk Southern Railroad at Forrest Park Blvd: Kingston Pike is reduced to one lane in each direction around the clock for bridge repairs and motorists should be alert for flaggers directing traffic at various times. North Forest Park Blvd. is closed at the intersection with Kingston Pike and motorists should use Newcom Avenue for access. 
 
 (Recovery Act Project) KNOX COUNTY, Campbell Station Road between I-40 and Kingston Pike (SR 1): Motorists should be alert for new traffic patters, lane shifts and workers present through this widening project and use caution in the area.
 
KNOX COUNTY, SR 131 Lovell Road between Gilbert Drive and Pellissippi Parkway: Motorists should be alert for workers present and flaggers directing traffic at various times through this project.
 
 (Recovery Act Project)  ANDERSON COUNTY, SR 61 Bridge over Poplar Creek in Oliver Springs: Motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures through this bridge widening project.
 
CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 South approaching Mile Marker 137.7 and Mile Marker 132.6: Sunday night, February 21, 2010, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. motorists should be alert for possible lane closures on I-74 as crew perform guardrail repairs. 
 
CLAIBORNE & GRAINGER COUNTIES, US 25E (SR 32): Weekdays between 9 a.m.  and 3 p.m. blasting operations may occur. Traffic will be stopped during blasts and for cleanup after. Motorists should expect potential long delays through this area and be alert for lane shifts, flaggers, narrow lanes and possible falling rock. WIDE LOADS OVER 12 FT. ARE NOT PERMITTED THROUGH THIS PROJECT.
 
COCKE COUNTY, I-40 East between Mile Markers 443 and 449.5: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures in this area during daylight hours as crews perform cable barrier installation. 
 
JEFFERSON COUNTY, I-81 North approaching Mile Marker 1.1: Sunday, February 21, 2010, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. motorists should be alert for a possible lane closures as crew perform guardrail repairs. 
 
LOUDON COUNTY, I-75 South approaching Mile Marker 83.2: Monday, February 22, 2010, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. motorists should be alert for a possible lane closures as crew perform guardrail repairs.
 
LOUDON, I-40 West approaching Mile Marker 364.1: Monday, February 22, 2010, between 8 p.m and 6 a.m. motorists should be alert for a possible lane closures as crews perform guardrail repairs.
 
MORGAN COUNTY, SR 62 between SR 29/US 27 and Petit Lane:Motorists should use caution traveling through this area and be alert for changed conditions, flaggers and new lane shifts through this area.
 
ROANE COUNTY, I-40 East and West approaching Mile Marker 352.8: Monday, February 22, 2010, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. motorists should be alert for a possible lane closures as crew perform guardrail repairs. 
 
ROANE COUNTY, US-70 / SR 1 Bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad and Black Creek (LM 2.46): US-70 Bridge over Norfolk Southern railroad at log mile 2.46 is reduced to one lane controlled by temporary traffic signals as crews perform bridge rehabilitation work. WIDE LOADS OVER 10 FT. WIDE ARE NOT PERMITTED THROUGH THIS PROJECT. Traffic loads over 10 ft. in width should follow signed detour route. 
 
ROANE / ANDERSON COUNTY, SR 95 between Westover Drive and SR 62 Illinois Avenue:State Route 95 is reduced to one lane in each direction through this widening project. Motorists should be alert for workers present, lane shifts, changed conditions and use caution through this area.
 
SEVIER COUNTY, US-441/SR 71 (Spur) between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg: The southbound portion of US-441 is closed due to a rock slide. Southbound traffic is being re-routed to the northbound side at Conner Heights Rd. (Traffic Light #10) for approximately ¾ mile around the rockslide and back across a bridge near Gum Stand Road to the southbound side. Northbound traffic on US-441 from Gatlinburg towards Pigeon Forge should be alert for a left lane closure after traveling through the tunnel. 
 
SEVIER COUNTY, SR 35 (Chapman Hwy.) Bridges over Gist Creek between White’s School Rd. and Tarwater Rd.: Motorists traveling through this area should be alert for lane closures and traffic shifts through this bridge construction project. 
 
SEVIER COUNTY, SR 338  (Boyd's Creek Hwy) in Seymour at Old Sevierville Pike: Motorists should be alert for potential delays, lane shifts, narrowed lanes, and workers present throughout this intersection improvement project.
 
(Recovery Act Project)  SEVIER COUNTY, SR 66 in Sevierville between SR 338 (Boyds Creek) and Nichols St.: Weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Highway 448 to the first Kroger entrance crews will stop traffic in 5 minute increments to pull electric lines across the roadway and to pull a signal cable across SR-66/Allensville/River Boulevard.  This work is contingent on good weather and may require adjustments in the event of inclement weather.  For updated project information, go to http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/highway66/
 
(Recovery Act Project)  SEVIER COUNTY, LeConte St. over West Prong of the Little Pigeon River in Gatlinburg:
LeConte Street has been reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal. Motorists should use extreme caution in this area.
 
(Recovery Act Project)  SEVIER COUNTY, Roaring Fork Extension Rd. over Roaring Fork Creek in Gatlinburg:
Motorists should be alert for construction and temporary detours in this area.
 
UNION COUNTY, SR 33 Bridge over Clinch River (Norris Lake): Motorists should be alert for workers present as crews mobilizing equipment to begin bridge construction. 
 
UNION COUNTY, SR 33 between South of SR 144 (Hickory Star Rd.) and SR 61 East: Motorists should be alert for crews installing construction signs, mobilizing equipment and use caution through this widening project.
 
UNION COUNTY, Sharps Chapel Road between Lambdin Ridge Rd. and Brewer Hollow Rd.:  Motorist should be alert for flag persons directing traffic between Lambdin Ridge Rd. and Brewer Hollow Rd. at various times thru this bridge replacement project.
