Pen Gulf, Inc. Receives Governor's Safety Award

Safety Record Dates Back to August 2008
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that Pen Gulf, Inc. in Charleston was chosen to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety.
"Pen Gulf, Inc. has demonstrated strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace," said Bob Henningsen, Deputy Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, who presented the Governor’s Award of Excellence to the company today at the company’s facility located at 1186 Old Lower River Road in Charleston. “The evaluation criteria for this award are challenging, and this company has worked extremely hard to meet and exceed the standards the award requires.”
The Governor’s Safety Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.
Pen Gulf has 75 employees and is an industrial contractor that specializes in industrial painting, floor coating, tank linings, insulation, scaffold erection and abatement of lead asbestos. The facility has qualified for the Governor’s Award by working over 222,000 hours without a lost time or restricted duty workplace injury or illness. The site’s injury free record dates back to August 2008.
