JACKSON, Tenn.Beginning March 23, 2010, crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation will detour traffic along State Route 104 near Trenton, Tennessee as work to rehabilitate a 71 year-old bridge begins.  The SR-104 bridge is one of 111 bridges in Tennessee being replaced or repaired through TDOT's Better Bridges Program, a four year program approved in 2009 by the Tennessee General Assembly that utilizes bonds to pay for the repair or replacement of more than 200 structurally deficient bridges in the state.

The SR-104 bridge will be completely rehabilitated and must be closed to traffic to ensure motorists' and workers' safety.  The SR-104 bridge was built in 1939, and received a poor rating during the last cycled inspection.  Dement Construction is the prime contractor on the $265,534 project and work is estimated to be complete by the end of August.
