Will Rice Becomes Office of e-Health Executive Director
NASHVILLE – Commissioner Dave Goetz of the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration announced today that Will Rice is the new executive director of the Office of e-Health Initiatives.
“Will is bringing a great background and diverse experience in health information technology and electronic health leadership to our statewide health information exchange effort,” Goetz said.
Rice will be leading the Office of e-Health’s day-to-day operations and managing the implementation of the statewide health information exchange strategic plan, enabling providers to satisfy Office of National Coordinator criteria for demonstrating meaningful use of health information technology, harmonizing the integration of health information exchange and health information technology, and related policies into state departments and agencies.
Previously, Rice was a health informatics senior consultant with the Vanderbilt Center for Better Health (VCBH), where he focused on regional, state, and national projects applying health information technology in advancing patient care. Rice also coordinated operations for MidSouth eHealth Alliance (MSeHA), a regional health information organization (RHIO) in Memphis and for Middle Tennessee eHealth Connect (MTeHC), a RHIO in Nashville.
Before joining VBCH, Rice was a technology business and services consultant, and also worked as a senior designer at HealthStream.
Rice holds a graduate certificate in biomedical informatics from Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine in Portland, OR, and has a bachelor of fine arts from Washington University in St. Louis.
