Thursday, March 04, 2010 | 08:10am
NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be conducting its first trapping education instructor workshop. The one-day workshop will be held Saturday, March 13 at the TWRA Region III Office in Crossville beginning at 1 p.m. (CST).

The workshop is being provided at no cost, but is directed toward experienced trappers who want to become a certified instructor in the field. There are a limited number of certified trapping instructors scattered across the state and the TWRA has certified just under 200 students in the past year.

“Trapping is a tradition and an art form that has been lost, when kids are introduced to trapping, they approach the subject with wonder and awe and most of them are extremely interested they just don't have the support to begin trapping,” said Randy Huskey, TWRA Hunter Education Administrator. “Most of the instructors we currently have on board are agency personnel.  I am very excited to offer this workshop to outside people and let them run with the program.”

All materials for the workshop will be supplied by the TWRA. The TWRA is asking that all interested persons be registered by noon on Friday, March 12. To register for the workshop or for more information, contact Randy Huskey at Randy.Huskey@tn.gov or at (615) 837-4247.
