I-65 South Reduced to One Lane in Sumner County This Weekend for Bridge Repair

Thursday, April 15, 2010 | 05:12am
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will reduce Interstate 65 South in Sumner County to one lane this weekend as concrete repairs to the bridge that crosses over US 31W (Springfield Highway) continue. I-65 South at mile marker 98 will be reduced to one lane from Friday, April 16, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, April 19 at 6:00 a.m.

This weekend’s lane reduction is one of several weekend lane closures planned on I-65 as crews work to repair the bridge deck surfaces at mile marker 98, just north of the Davidson County line. Crews will remove deteriorating concrete and pour new concrete, which requires 18 hours to harden. During that 18 hour period, the travel lane must remain closed to traffic.

While the project includes repairs to both north and southbound bridges, this weekend’s closure will only impact the southbound lanes of I-65.

Law enforcement officers will be on site in the work zone to provide traffic control as the work is being completed. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
