Event is Free and Open to the Public, But Seating is Limited and Reservations are Required

NASHVILLE – Tennessee First Lady Andrea Conte will host a panel discussion on Tuesday, May 25 at 6 p.m. CDT at Conservation Hall at the Tennessee Residence. The event, entitled “The Other Side of War,” will feature a panel discussion focused on the challenges facing families left behind when a loved one is deployed to war. The event is open to the public at no charge; however, seating is limited and reservations are required.

“In addition to the men and women who are called into service, the families of our soldiers are troopers, too” said Conte. “Whether they’re a partner who stays at home to run a household, a parent whose child has answered the call to service, or a child who endures while mom or dad is away, they all face daily challenges and must persevere to maintain a sense of normalcy through a difficult time.”

The discussion will address the impact war has on military families and the ways they cope with their unique day-to-day and long-term challenges.

NewsChannel5 anchor Vicki Yates will moderate the discussion. Participating panelists include:
  • Sgt. Kevin Downs, Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran
  • Cassandra Flanigan, Gold Star Spouse CW3 William T. Flanigan
  • Keeley Stewart, daughter of LTC Kevin Stewart
A reception will precede the panel discussion at 5:15 p.m. The program will begin promptly at 6 p.m.

Parking is available at Judson Baptist Church, which is located at 4900 Franklin Pike. A shuttle service will begin at 5 p.m. Parking will not be available at the Residence.

To make a reservation, please call (615) 741-7846 or send an email to anna.stergas@tn.gov. The event, held at Conservation Hall at the Tennessee Residence, will be the fourth in a series of events hosted by First Lady Conte.
