DHS Disaster Programs Extended in 14 Counties

Food and Cash Assistance Programs for Eligible Victims to End Next Friday

 

WHAT:       The Tennessee Department of Human Services today was granted an extension by the USDA to operate the Disaster Food Stamp program for eligible flood victims in 14 counties, including Shelby and Davidson.   The emergency cash program for eligible storm victims will also be extended in these counties.  The extension request was based on the high volume of applicants at the larger DHS county offices and limited accessibility to other offices.  

 

WHEN:      Friday, May 21- Friday, May 28

(Offices closed Saturday and Sunday)

7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

WHERE:    Tennessee Department of Human Services local county office in the following counties:  Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Dyer, Gibson, Haywood, Hickman, Humphreys, Madison, Montgomery, Perry, Shelby, Sumner, and Tipton counties.  

 

MORE:      Request for disaster assistance must be made at the local DHS office in the designated counties, and federal regulations require face-to-face interviews.     Applicants for cash assistance MUST have registered with FEMA and suffered damage from the storms/flood.
