Interstate Repairs to Slow Traffic in Memphis and Henderson County This Weekend

JACKSON, Tenn. – Two separate construction projects will result in travel delays in Memphis and Henderson County this weekend. Work is underway to complete the final demolition of the existing State Route 104 Bridge over Interstate-40 in Henderson County.  Meanwhile, crews working on I-55 will repair a flurry of potholes created by the recent heavy rains and flooding.
 
I-40 in Henderson County
  • Saturday May 22 and Sunday May 23, from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. – I-40 East and West will be reduced to one lane and traffic will be diverted onto the ramps at Exit 101 and back onto I-40 while crews complete demolition of the SR-104 overpass. SR-104 will be closed to local traffic entering I-40, but will re-open once the demolition is complete.
I-55 in Shelby County
  • Saturday, May 22, from 6:00 a.m. until noon - There will be rolling roadblocks along I-55 in Shelby County to repair potholes. The rolling roadblocks will last 15 – 20 minutes. Work will take place on I-55 northbound in both lanes from 6:00 a.m.until 9:00 a.m. Once this work is complete, crews will work on the inside lane of southbound I-55 from 9:00 a.m. until noon. If work cannot be done due to weather, it will be re-scheduled for Sunday, May 23, 20
