NASHVILLE - Rebuilding or repairing a home after a disaster can be daunting, especially after the damage from the record-setting flooding and storms. But with the right information, homeowners can build back smarter and stronger.

Beginning, Monday, May 24, hazard mitigation specialists with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will spend two weeks at two Lowe’s Home Improvement stores located in Nashville and Dyersburg to help. The specialists can answer questions about protecting homes from future disaster damage, as well as offer other home improvement tips and techniques.

Residents can learn flood- and wind-resistant building methods and get advice on topics such as wind straps, flood insurance and other measures to make homes stronger and safer. Publications on these topics also will be available. There is no cost to talk with the advisors.
