TDOC Flood Benefit

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 | 11:04am

NASHVILLE - The Riverbend Maximum Security Institution is doing its part to help flood victims on the road to recovery.  More than 50 TDOC employees experienced significant loss during the May floods.  On Friday, a special benefit will be held at the prison to help raise money for TDOC staff affected by the floods.

"It is inspiring to see so many TDOC employees come together to help each other," said Commissioner Gayle Ray.  "Many of our staff suffered damage ranging from several feet of water in their homes to total losses of homes, cars, valuables and precious items that cannot be replaced."

The TDOC flood benefit will include a cookout and special entertainment from Richard Bailey and Tammy Rogers of the bluegrass band The SteelDrivers.  Donations will be accepted and 100% of the proceeds will go to TDOC flood victims.
