Coming to a Location Near You: Free Rebuilding Advice for Tennesseans

NASHVILLE – Homeowners and others rebuilding after the flood can receive valuable, free information for projects around the house. Beginning Thursday, May 27, hazard mitigation specialists with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be at Home Depot locations in Antioch and Covington, Tenn., to help contractors and homeowners.
 
The specialists can answer questions about protecting homes from future disaster damage, as well as offer other home improvement tips and techniques. Rebuilding or repairing a home after a disaster can be daunting, especially after the damage from the recent record-setting flooding and storms. With the right information, homeowners and their contractors can build back smarter and stronger.
 
Topics will include flood- and wind-resistant building methods, wind straps, flood insurance and other measures to make homes stronger and safer. Publications on these topics also will be available. There is no cost to talk with the advisors.
 
FEMA mitigation specialists will be available until further notice at the following locations:
 
Antioch
The Home Depot
1155 Bell Road
Antioch, TN 37013
Mitigation specialists will be in the store daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to meet with homeowners. On Friday, Saturday and Monday, they will be available to contractors at 7 a.m.
 
Covington
The Home Depot
110 Holly Grove Road
Covington, TN 38019
Mitigation specialists will be in the store daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to meet with homeowners. On Friday, Saturday and Monday, they will be available to contractors at 7 a.m.
 
FEMA mitigation will also be available through Sunday, June 6, in the following previously announced locations:
 
Nashville

Mitigation specialists will be in this store from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
 
Dyersburg

Mitigation specialists will be in this store from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
 
Specialists will be scheduled at more locations throughout Tennessee. Locations and dates will be announced as details are finalized.
