  • Houston County, Erin City Hall, 15 Hill St., Erin, TN 37061

  • Smith County, L.B.J. & C. Head Start, 201 Joy Alford Way, Carthage, TN 37030
The centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Thursday.

Survivors of the severe storms and flooding that occurred between April 30 and May 18, 2010, who have outstanding questions, are urged to visit the centers before they close to meet one-on-one with recovery specialists about specific disaster-related needs.

Disaster recovery specialists will be available to answer questions for applicants and review information the Federal Emergency Management Agency needs to process the application. Recovery specialists can supply contacts for other programs that may be able to help.

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) representatives will be at the centers to answer any questions about the SBA low-interest disaster loan program for homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and certain private nonprofit organizations. These loans are to repair or replace real estate and/or personal property damaged by the storms and flooding.

Disaster officials suggest that, before visiting a DRC, homeowners, renters and business owners first register online anytime at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, or call 800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585 for those with speech and hearing disabilities. Lines are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and help in all languages is available.

After the DRCs close, FEMA will only be a phone call away.

Applicants can check on their application or available assistance by using the FEMA helpline option at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or 800-462-7585 (TTY) for people with speech or hearing disabilities.
