NASHVILLE – The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at TSU Ford Residential Complex Community Room, 2700 W. Heiman St. in Nashville will cease operations Thursday, June 17, state and federal recovery officials announced. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Thursday.

Survivors of the severe storms and flooding that occurred between April 30 and May 18, 2010, who have outstanding questions, are urged to visit the center before it closes to meet one-on-one with recovery specialists about specific disaster-related needs.

Disaster recovery specialists and Small Business Administration (SBA) representatives will be available to answer questions for applicants and review information the Federal Emergency Management Agency needs to process the application. Recovery specialists can supply contacts for other programs that may be able to help.

To be eligible for FEMA or SBA assistance, individuals affected by the storms and flooding must register by July 6.

Disaster officials suggest that, before visiting a DRC, homeowners, renters and business owners first register online anytime at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, or call 800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585 for those with speech and hearing disabilities. Lines are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and help is available in all languages.

After the DRC closes, FEMA representatives will be available by phone.

Applicants can check on their application or available assistance by using the FEMA helpline option at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or 800-462-7585 (TTY) for people with speech or hearing disabilities. Lines are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. On the Web, disaster information remains available 24 hours a day at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
