NASHVILLE – The Disaster Recovery Centers in Cheatham, Hickman, and Montgomery counties will transition to U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Centers Friday, June 18. All three Disaster Recovery Centers will operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Thursday, June 17, and reopen as Disaster Loan Outreach Centers Friday morning, June 18.

Locations and hours of the Disaster Loan Outreach Centers opening Friday, June 18, are:

Cheatham County: Please note new location: 100 Public Square, Suite 90, Ashland City, TN 37015. Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Hickman County: Centerville Church of Christ, 138 N. Central Ave., Centerville, TN 37033. Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Montgomery County: Montgomery County Civic Hall, 350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville, TN 37040. Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) opened temporary Disaster Recovery Centers soon after counties were declared eligible for Individual Assistance in response to the severe storms and flooding that occurred between April 30 and May 18, 2010.

Individuals affected by the storms and flooding can visit any Disaster Recovery Center or Disaster Loan Outreach Center. They do not have to go to the center in their own county.

Disaster officials suggest that before visiting the centers, people first register online anytime at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585. Lines are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Help in all languages is available.

To be eligible for FEMA or SBA assistance, you must register by July 6, 2010.

The reopening of Disaster Recovery Centers as Disaster Loan Outreach Centers demonstrates the commitment of the SBA to ensure that qualified individuals and businesses receive the help they need to recover from the severe storms and flooding.

Numerous residents and business owners who have registered with FEMA for assistance have already received an SBA loan application in the mail.

For many renters and homeowners, completing and returning the loan application is crucial to accessing the full range of available disaster recovery assistance. Renters and homeowners not approved by the SBA for a disaster loan may be referred to FEMA to be considered for several types of grants that are available only for applicants ineligible for SBA disaster loans.

FEMA’s mission is to support our citizens and first responders to ensure that as a nation we work together to build, sustain, and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards.

Disaster recovery assistance is available without regard to race, color, religion, nationality, sex, age, disability, English proficiency or economic status. If you or someone you know has been discriminated against, call FEMA toll-free at 800-621-FEMA (3362). For TTY call 800-462-7585.

FEMA’s temporary housing assistance and grants for public transportation expenses, medical and dental expenses, and funeral and burial expenses do not require individuals to apply for an SBA loan. However, applicants who receive SBA loan applications must submit them to SBA loan officers to be eligible for assistance that covers personal property, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses.
