Department Begins Contacting ATA/SDS/SAA Policyholders

NASHVILLE- With the Chancery Court of Davidson County having agreed to its petition for liquidation proceedings against three unlicensed, de facto health insurers, the Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI) began the process last week of contacting the companies’ policyholders, general creditors and others via mailings throughout the country.

“The mailings that policyholders are receiving will instruct them on the process for filing claims against the companies that made them hollow promises of coverage and delivered only limited benefits that came nowhere close to justifying their premiums,” says TDCI Commissioner Leslie A. Newman.

The companies are American Trade Association Inc., American Trade Association LLC, Smart Data Solutions LLC and Serve America Assurance. Questions regarding the Liquidation of the companies or the process of filing claims may be directed to:

The liquidation maintains a website with the proof-of-claim and other pertinent information at www.americantradeliquidation.com.

On May 20, 2010, the Chancery Court placed the companies in liquidation pursuant to the Insurers Rehabilitation and Liquidation Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §56-9-101. et seq.
