Department of Health Breaks Ground for New Health Facility in Jackson County

NASHVILLE − Join representatives of the Tennessee Department of Health along with Jackson County Executive Charlie Hix for the ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Jackson County Health Department Community Health Center facility.

The cost for the 7,200-plus square-foot facility, including construction, equipment and furnishings totals $957,030. The Tennessee Department of Health’s Upper Cumberland Regional Office applied for and was awarded an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Capital Improvement Program grant through the Health Resources and Services Administration in the amount of $625,680. Jackson County government’s contribution totaled $276,850, which includes the land for the building. The United States Department of Agriculture provided $54,500 for the facility construction.

Once complete, the facility will include six examination rooms and employ approximately 14 health professionals. Jackson County Health Department is a federally qualified community health center providing primary medical and dental care to the medically underserved and uninsured. Other services offered include immunizations, well child/EPSDT screenings, WIC nutrition services, children’s special services care coordination, breast and cervical cancer screening, family planning services, vital records and communicable disease control.
