TEMA Employees Honored for Public Safety Communications Accomplishments

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee’s chapter of the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (TNAPCO) has recognized two Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) employees for their leadership in emergency and public safety communications.
 
Tom Barnes, TEMA’s communications analyst, received a chapter award as the 2010 IT/Telecommunications Tech of the Year, and Louis Friedmann, TEMA’s director of operations, received the 2010 Communications Center Manager of the Year award.
 
“We are proud to honor Mr. Friedmann and Mr. Barnes with these awards and call attention to the advancements they have made within TEMA, and throughout the state, in life-saving communications services,” said John Johnson, TNAPCO president.
 
TNAPCO held its annual awards ceremony June 24, in Chattanooga. Other award recipients included:
 
Line Supervisor of the Year, Tina Leinart, Rutherford County Safety Office: 
Telecommunicator of the Year, Missy Richardt, Overton-Pickett 911 Emergency Communications Dispatch:
Trainer of the Year, Karen Brandon, Rutherford County Safety Office;
Radio Technician of the Year for Public Safety, Pat Rollins, Chattanooga Electronic Communications Shop; and
Radio Technician of the Year for Commercial, Jim Tyler, Motorola, working with Metro Nashville.
 
TNAPCO accepts award nominations from its various member agencies and the TNAPCO executive committee picks the award winners.
 
Tennessee’s award winners are eligible for the APCO International national awards in August in Houston, Texas.
 
TNAPCO is a member driven association of communications professionals that provides leadership; influences public safety communications decisions of government and industry; promotes professional development; and, fosters the development and use of technology for the benefit of the public.
