NASHVILLE – Following Tennessee’s success in the first round of the US Department of Education’s Race to the Top competition, the Teacher Evaluation Advisory Committee will conduct an Educators Outreach Summit Saturday, June 5, to hear from teachers and principals across the state.

The TEAC was established in the recent First to the Top legislation to develop recommendations, guidelines and criteria for an annual, reliable and easy-to-use evaluation for all teachers and principals.

“Hearing and learning from the experience of our teachers and principals will be invaluable to the process of developing a new evaluation and achieving the goals of this committee,” said Gov. Phil Bredesen.

Gov. Bredesen will welcome summit attendees and Education Commissioner Timothy Webb will deliver an overview of TEAC goals and actions. Teachers, principals and committee members will attend breakout work sessions to focus on critical issues surrounding teacher and principal evaluations in the afternoon.
