Middle Tennessee Waterfowl Blind Drawing Locations Set

Friday, July 30, 2010 | 09:06am
NASHVILLE --- Waterfowl hunters will congregate at four Tennessee Wildlife Management Areas in Middle Tennessee on Saturday, Aug. 7 to participate in the 2010-11 blind drawings.

Registration will be held between 7 and 10 a.m. at all sites, with the drawings to begin after the last hunter standing in line is registered. Participants must be in line by 10 a.m., or will not be allowed to draw.

Old Hickory, Cheatham, Haynes Bottom, and Woods (AEDC) Reservoir wildlife management areas will have drawings in Middle Tennessee. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced the Old Hickory drawing is set for Ward Agriculture Center in Lebanon, the Haynes Bottom drawing at the Haynes Bottom headquarters in Montgomery County, the Cheatham Drawing at Cheatham WMA headquarters in Cheatham County, and the Woods Reservoir drawing will be held at the AEDC Gossick Center.

In order to draw for a blind, sportsmen must be at least 16 years of age, appear in person, and possess the proper licenses/permits. For Middle Tennessee WMAs,  Tennessee residents must possess one of the following licenses; Lifetime Sportsman License, Sportsman License (Type 04), Type 01 License and Type 91 Permit, Type 166 License and Type 91 Permit or Type 167 Permit, Proof of age for residents born before March 1, 1926 and Type 91 Permit. Nonresidents are required to have a Type 71 License and Type 91 Permit or a Type 73 License and Type 91 Permit.

As announced earlier by the TWRA, waterfowl hunters should know that all blinds on Cheatham WMA will have to be rebuilt this year, while most blinds on Haynes Bottoms WMA need rebuilding because of last May’s heavy flooding. A few blinds on Old Hickory will need repair or rebuilding. (Click on the attachment below to check the status of the blinds on Old Hickory).

Hunters should also be aware that blind recipients, or anyone who signs on to hunt with a recipient, will be responsible for blind construction where necessary. If blind holders choose not to build, every hunter assigned to an unfinished blind will be ineligible to participate for any location in next year’s drawing, according to the TWRA.
