I-40 Reduced to One Lane in Benton/Humphrey Counties for Bridge Inspection

JACKSON, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation bridge inspectors will perform routine inspections on the Interstate 40 bridge over the Tennessee River in Benton and Humphreys Counties Wednesday, August 11 and Thursday, August 12. TDOT bridge inspectors are responsible for inspecting all 19,550 bridges in Tennessee at least every two years.
 
  • Wednesday, August 11 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. – I-40 Eastbound will be reduced to one lane at mile marker 134 while TDOT bridge inspectors perform an inspection on the eastbound side of the Tennessee River Bridge.
  • Thursday, August 12 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. – I-40 Westbound will be reduced to one lane at mile marker 134 while bridge inspectors perform an inspection on the westbound side of the Tennessee River Bridge.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol will assist with traffic control in the work zone. Motorists are reminded to use caution in and around work zones, including mobile work zones like those used by bridge inspection crews.
