JACKSON, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation is alerting motorists in Shelby and Henderson Counties to be prepared for delays on I-40 in Henderson County and I-240 in Shelby County due to weekend bridge work.

Shelby County
Memphis Light Gas and Water (City of Memphis) will be installing hangers on the McLemore Bridge over Interstate 240. Sunday, August 15 from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., there will be two lanes closed northbound and two lanes closed southbound. One lane will remain open at all times with officers pacing traffic throughout the construction zone. At times, traffic could be stopped for up to 20 minutes.   Memphis Police Department will assist with traffic control.

Henderson County
Tennessee Department of Transportation crews will reduce Interstate 40 to one lane in each direction on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15 from 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Traffic will be diverted onto the ramps at exit 101 as crews pour a new bridge deck on the State Route 104 overpass. Flaggers will direct traffic on State Route 104 and the Tennessee Highway Patrol will assist with the lane reductions on I-40.

Similar closures in the past have resulted in minor delays. Motorists should continue to plan ahead and avoid these areas if possible.
