NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that Firestone Industrial Products Company LLC (FSIP) in Dyersburg was chosen to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety. The award was given today at the 33rd Annual Tennessee Safety and Health Congress held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Murfreesboro.

"Firestone Industrial Products Company LLC has demonstrated strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace," said Neeley, who presented the Governor’s Award of Excellence to the company today. “The evaluation criteria for this award are challenging, and this company has worked extremely hard to meet and exceed the standards the award requires.”

The Governor’s Safety Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.

The Dyersburg FSIP facility has 105 employees who manufacture metal stampings and technologically advanced Airide™ brand air springs. The facility has qualified for the Governor’s Award by working more than 300,000 hours without a lost-time or restricted duty workplace injury or illness. This is the fifth time this facility has received this award and they are also one of the state’s 33 Volunteer STAR (Safety Through Accountability and Recognition) sites. The site’s injury-free record dates back to August 2008.

“This recognition is a testament to Firestone Industrial Products Company LLC’s unwavering commitment to both safety and excellence,” said Mike Kroeger, Dyersburg Plant Manager. “To be one of the safest manufacturing facilities in the state is something in which all Dyersburg teammates can take great pride.”
