THP Investigating Apparent Hit & Run Pedestrian Fatality on I-40 in Mt. Juliet

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a possible hit and run pedestrian fatality that occurred on I-40 eastbound near milemarker 227 during the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 25, 2010.
 
At approximately 5:42 a.m., Mt. Juliet Police responded to two crashes on I-40 eastbound in which vehicles ran off the interstate to avoid the remains of an adult male. The Mt. Juliet Police Department is investigating those crashes. At the request of Mt. Juliet Police, THP is investigating the circumstances surrounding the initial fatality which at this time is being classified as a possible hit and run. Investigators believe the incident may have occurred sometime between the early morning hours of 3:30 a.m. and 5:15 a.m. Wednesday.
 
The THP is hoping someone may have witnessed the incident or might be able to provide information helpful to the investigation.   Anyone with information is urged to contact the Tennessee Highway Patrol at 615-741-2060.
