Thursday, August 26, 2010 | 08:38am
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close lanes on Interstate 24 West in Rutherford County this weekend to make repairs to the Florence Road Bridge that crosses over I-24. I-24 West at mile marker 73 (near State Route 840 junction) will be reduced to two lanes beginning Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 4:00 a.m. The lanes will reopen no later than Sunday, August 29 at 10:00 p.m. There will also be alternating lane closures on Florence Road during the bridge work.

During this weekend’s lane closures, workers will make repairs to a bridge beam that was struck by an oversized vehicle.

TDOT will use portable message boards to alert motorists of the lane closures. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and avoid the area if at all possible. Law enforcement officers will be on site in the work zone to provide traffic control as the work is being completed. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
