Several TDOT SmartWay Dynamic Message Signs Activated in Chattanooga Area

Signs will be Displaying Test Message for Several Days
 
Chattanooga, Tenn. – Drivers in the Chattanooga area may notice something different as they travel along area roads today, particularly along the I-75 corridor. TDOT has activated six of sixteen recently-installed SmartWay Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), and they will be running a test message until Friday morning. If all goes well, the six signs will go live on Friday morning and will begin displaying
real-time traffic information. The remainder of the DMSs will be activated in the next 6 - 8 weeks. 
 
These signs are coming on line today with a test message:
I-75 NB at mile marker 10.4
I-75 NB at mile marker 2.0
I-75 SB at mile marker 13.7
I-75 SB at mile marker 23.2 (Bradley County)
I-75 SB at mile marker 6.7
SR-153 SB at mile marker 2.0
 
Signs slated to be activated in the coming weeks:
I-75 SB at mile marker 2.5
I-75 NB at mile marker 348.4 (Georgia)
I-24 EB at mile marker 172.7
I-24 EB at mile marker 179.6
I-24 EB at mile marker 154.5 (Marion County)
I-24 EB at mile marker 183.5
I-24 WB at mile marker 176.2
I-24 WB at mile marker 180.8
SR-153 SB at mile marker 5.0
SR-29 (U.S. 27) SB at mile marker 14.6

Motorists are reminded to use all motorist information tools responsibly. Drivers should refrain from texting, tweeting or using a mobile phone while operating a vehicle. TDOT advises drivers to “Know before you go!” by checking traffic conditions before leaving for your destination.
