NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Board of Nursing has summarily suspended the license of Sara D. Maiville APN, RN of Thompsons Station. The suspension of her nursing license became effective August 5, 2010. As a result of the board’s actions, Maiville was immediately prohibited from working as a nurse.

Maiville’s license was suspended for the following:

• fraudulently writing prescriptions to obtain controlled substances;
• violating prerequisites to prescribing or dispensing rules;
• making false, incorrect, inconsistent or unintelligible entries in patient or facility records pertaining to the obtaining, possessing or administration of any controlled substance;

• unprofessional conduct.

Maiville has the opportunity to participate in an informal conference before the Board of Nursing on August 12, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the Health Related Boards Conference Room at 227 French Landing Drive, Nashville, Tenn. During the conference, the board will determine whether the public health, safety or welfare imperatively required emergency action and whether Sandy’s license should remain suspended pending the outcome of a contested case proceeding in the matter. The conference will be canceled if Maiville declines participation.

Maiville was originally licensed as a registered nurse in Tennessee in 2006. She received a certificate of fitness as an advanced practice nurse in 2007.
