Governor Bredesen, TN Health Commissioner Media Availability September 16

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen and Health Commissioner Susan R. Cooper, MSN, RN, will officially launch the Eat Well, Play More Tennessee state nutrition and physical activity plan on Thursday, September 16. Governor Bredesen and Commissioner Cooper will speak during the awards luncheon at the 2010 Tennessee Public Health Association meeting in Franklin, Tenn.

Eat Well, Play More Tennessee is a five-year plan developed by the Tennessee Obesity Taskforce and provides a comprehensive roadmap to reduce obesity and chronic disease in Tennessee by 2015. The primary focus of the plan is to create policy and environmental changes in the places where people live, work, learn, play and pray that will improve the health of Tennesseans of all ages and abilities.

Governor Bredesen and Commissioner Cooper will be available to discuss the plan and Tennessee’s ongoing efforts to address the epidemic of obesity.
