NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Board of Nursing has suspended the license of Devon B. Norris, RN of Rossville, Ga. The suspension of his nursing license was effective Sept. 2, 2010. As a result of the board’s actions, Harris was immediately prohibited from working as a nurse.

Norris’s nursing license was suspended for the following:

• knowingly exchanging information, sexual dialogue and a nude picture of himself with two females he believed to be underage, and arranging an encounter with the females for sexual interaction; and
• being arrested and charged with attempted statutory rape; attempted child molestation, and computer pornography/sexual exploitation of a child.

Norris has the opportunity to participate in an informal hearing before the Board of Nursing. The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 1:30 p.m. CT in the Poplar Room at 227 French Landing Drive, Nashville, Tenn. During the hearing, the board will determine whether the public health, safety or welfare imperatively required emergency action and whether the nurse’s license should remain suspended pending the outcome of a contested case proceeding in the matter. The hearing will be canceled if Norris declines participation.

Norris first was licensed as registered nurse in Tennessee in June 2010.
