Meeting Set to Examine 10 Tennessee Nominations to National Register of Historic Places

Public invited to attend Nashville meeting on September 29
 
NASHVILLE - The State Review Board will meet on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, to examine Tennessee's 10 proposed nominations to the National Register of Historic Places.
 
The meeting will be held at the Tennessee Historical Commission’s office at 2941 Lebanon Road, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Board will vote on 10 nominations from across the state. Nominations that meet the criteria will be sent for final approval to the National Register of Historic Places in the U. S. Department of the Interior.
 
The nominations are:
  • Anderson County: Daugherty Furniture Building 
  • Coffee County: John Leming House 
  • Davidson County: Municipal Public Works Garage Industrial District and Stone Hall 
  • Hamilton County: Market Street Bridge 
  • Henderson County: Doe Creek School 
  • Knox County: Lebanon in the Forks Cemetery and Minvilla 
  • Putnam County: First Presbyterian Church 
  • Sullivan County: East Hill Cemetery
Other business at the meeting will include the election of a new chair and vice chair, along with a progress report on various federal programs.  
 
The State Review Board is composed of 13 people with backgrounds in American history, architecture, archaeology or related fields. It also includes members representing the public. The National Register program was authorized under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.
