No Changes Made to Commercial Fishing Proclamation at Special Called Meeting

Tuesday, November 15, 2011 | 09:43am
NASHVILLE --- At a special called meeting on Tuesday, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission voted to not make any changes to the commercial fishing proclamation.

The Commercial Fishing Advisory Committee (CFAC) had originally reached a consensus to amend the current length limits and handling procedures on paddlefish in waters currently open to paddlefish harvest. The proposed changes pertained to Proclamation 08-01.

Since the proposal was suggested, the CFAC, which consists of nine volunteers from the commercial fishing community, voted 8-1 to keep the proclamation as it stands. In its special meeting, TWRC unanimously voted to accept CFAC’s recommendation to keep the proclamation as it stands.

The commercial fishing proclamation was the only agenda item for the special called meeting. The TWRC’s next regular meeting will be held Dec. 8-9 in Nashville at the TWRA Region II Ray Bell Building.
