Open House for West Tennessee Regional Office Dental Clinic
JACKSON − Tennessee Health Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH, will join other state and local officials on Tuesday, December 6, for an open house at the West Tennessee Regional Office Dental Clinic in Jackson.
The West Tennessee Regional Office Dental Clinic provides comprehensive dental care for uninsured adults and children. Services are offered on a sliding fee scale based on income. The state-of-the-art clinic is staffed by a full-time dentist and full-time dental assistant. Through a partnership with the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, fourth-year students at the UT Dental School provide services in one-week rotations at this clinic, the only partnership of its kind in Tennessee. The Jackson-Madison County Health Department is also a partner in the project, and enlisted Jackson-Madison County General Hospital to provide housing for students serving their rotations.
Since opening in March, 2011, providers have treated more than 215 patients at this facility and have delivered more than 2,300 procedures. The total value of the services provided to patients is more than $132,000. Patients have come from 20 different Tennessee counties to receive dental treatment at this facility.
