CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – On Monday, February 14 through Wednesday, February 16, 2011 crews will be setting beams on the bridge presently under construction on Shallowford Road over South Chickamauga Creek near the Airport Road intersection. To set the beams on the new structure, the contractor will have to intermittently close one lane of the existing adjacent bridge now in use by motorists.

These temporary closures will take place between non-peak hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, and flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control.

TDOT is overseeing this bridge replacement project for the City of Chattanooga, and the contractor for the $5 million project is Simpson Bridge Co. of Cleveland, Tennessee. The project is slated for completion in June 2012.

Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances delay the work, it will be rescheduled to take place as soon as possible.
