Hunting Seasons Overview, Recommendations Among Agenda Items for April TWRC Meeting

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s recommendations for the 2011-12 hunting and trapping seasons will be among the agenda items for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission when it meets April 14-15 in Nashville.
 
The TWRC will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at the TWRA’s Region II Ray Bell Building in Nashville. The committee meeting begins at 1 p.m. on April 14 and at 9 a.m. with the formal meeting on April 15. The TWRC is meeting on Thursday-Friday this month.
 
The TWRA Wildlife and Forestry Division will provide the Commission with a 2010-11 hunting season overview. The 2011-12 proclamations to be discussed include big game, small game, wildlife management areas (WMAs), National Wildlife Refuges, manner and means, importation of cervid carcasses, falconry, and unprotected species.
 
The commission annually hears the agency’s hunting and trapping recommendations during the April meeting. The seasons are set during the May meeting which is scheduled for May 19-20 in Nashville.
 
The TWRA Boating Division will recognize its officer of the year and in addition, introduce a new award, the agency’s part-time boating officer of the year.
