State Review Board Meeting Set to Examine Proposed Nominations to National Register -- May 18

Public invited to attend Nashville meeting on May 18
 
NASHVILLE - The State Review Board will meet on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, to examine Tennessee's proposed nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the meeting will be held at the Tennessee State Library and Archives, located at 403 Seventh Avenue North in Nashville.
 
The Board will vote on 13 nominations from across the state. Nominations that meet the criteria will be sent for final approval to the National Register of Historic Places in the U. S. Department of the Interior.
 
The nominations are:
  • Blount County:  Henry Farm 
  • Davidson County: Alumni Memorial Hall, Fort Nashborough, Tennessee State Office Building and the U.S. Naval Reserve Training Center
  • Franklin County: Asia School 
  • Hamilton County: Oak Grove Elementary School
  • Knox County:  Contractor’s Supply Building
  • Robertson County: Russell House 
  • Rutherford County: Searcy-Matthews-Tarpley Farm
  • Shelby County: Memphis Landing 
  • White County:  Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railroad Section House
  • Williamson County: Coats-Hines Archaeological Site
The State Review Board is composed of 13 people with backgrounds in American history, architecture, archaeology or related fields. It also includes members representing the public. The National Register program was authorized under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.
