Media Advisory: TDOS Partners with Agencies for Law Enforcement Memorial 5K

NASHVILLE --- In honor of National Police Week, the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and several other agencies on Saturday are hosting the first ever Law Enforcement Memorial 5K Run/Walk and Family Picnic. The event marks the end of the annual week to honorlaw enforcement officials who lost their lives in the line of duty. There will be a
moment of silence held before the start of the 5K to honor Chattanooga Police Sgt. Tim Chapin, Wartburg Police Captain Ralph Braden, and Tennessee State Trooper Andy Wall. All three Tennessee law enforcement officers were killed this year in the line of duty. Proceeds from the event will benefit C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors). C.O.P.S. is a national non-profit organization that provides the resources and programs to help families and co-workers deal with their losses.

The 5K Run/Walk will weave through the campus of the Department of Safety’s Training   Center at the Clover Bottom Complex. The Family Picnic will also include several family-friendly activities and law enforcement demonstrations.
