Assistant Commissioner Announced for Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development

Former Cocke County Mayor Iliff Mcmahan, Jr. Accepts Position
 
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Karla Davis announced today the appointment of Iliff McMahan, Jr. to the position of Assistant Commissioner for the department. As Assistant Commissioner, McMahan will be responsible for legislative affairs as well as other duties.
 
“Iliff’s extensive government and economic development experience as well as his experience with the State Workforce Development Board will make him a tremendous asset to the department,” Commissioner Davis said.
 
McMahan retired in 2010 after serving as the County Mayor in Cocke County for 8 years. Prior to serving as County Mayor, McMahan has extensive business experience in local utility, chamber of commerce, publishing, and economic and tourism development activities.
 
“I’m honored to accept this appointment, and I’m thrilled to be able to serve the fine citizens of Tennessee,” said McMahan. “I want to express my gratitude to Commissioner Davis for this wonderful opportunity and I look forward to working with the great staff at the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. We face many challenges in our state, and I know by working together we can effect positive change for all Tennesseans.”
 
McMahan earned his bachelor’s and master’ degrees from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He resides with his wife Marcie on their horse and cattle farm in Parrottsville, TN.
