Rutherford County Driver Services to Consolidate

Tuesday, June 14, 2011 | 11:03am
NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will consolidate driver license services in Rutherford County as part of an overall effort to improve effectiveness and efficiency in the Nashville metropolitan area.

“We have been reviewing our opportunities to determine how we can best make sure the taxpayers are getting a dollar’s worth of services for a dollar’s worth of taxes. As part of that review, we are looking closely at the rent we pay at various driver service centers, the conditions of the facilities, and the amount of people we service,” stated the department’s Commissioner, Bill Gibbons.

Effective at the close of business on June 16, 2011, the LaVergne Driver Service Center, located at 5227 Murfreesboro Road, will close. Staff from the LaVergne Center will relocate to other facilities in the Nashville metropolitan area, including the Rutherford County Driver Service Center located at 1035 Samsonite Drive in Murfreesboro.

“The Murfreesboro facility is one of the best in the state. It has additional work stations not being utilized currently, so it can easily absorb staff members from LaVergne,” Commissioner Gibbons added.
