Tennessee Forestry Commission to Meet Aug. 23

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Forestry Commission will meet Aug. 23 at 8:30 a.m. CDT in the Bruer Building conference room at Ellington Agricultural Center, located at 440 Hogan Road in Nashville.

The commission will review the Division of Forestry’s FY2012 budget and proposed FY2013 budget. The commission will hear a report on the recent legislative session and an update on the Forest Action Plan, also known as the Forest Resource Assessment. The plan identifies threats and opportunities for protecting and enhancing Tennessee’s forest resources and strategies for future management. The commission will also hear a report from the 2011-2012 nominating committee for commission officers.

The meeting is open to the public. Individuals interested in addressing the commission should plan to arrive prior to the start of the meeting in order to be placed on the agenda.

The Tennessee Forestry Commission comprises seven members representing the public’s interests as it relates to forest resources in the state.
