NASHVILLE – The Department of Environment and Conservation’s Office of Environmental Assistance has announced a series of regional Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership workshops this fall, designed to give businesses across the state an opportunity to share best practices and innovative ideas for improving profitability and reducing pollution.

The Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership is an environmental recognition program operated by the Department of Environment and Conservation to reward top environmental performance.  TP3 members include households, schools, government agencies, organizations, businesses and industries that lead the way to environmental excellence by managing environmental responsibilities, reducing and preventing pollution and being good environmental citizens.

Titled “Profitability Through Pollution Prevention,” the workshops will be hosted by members of the Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership.  Workshops in East, Middle and West Tennessee will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations (local times apply):

“The past several years have presented economic challenges for everyone and TP3 members continue to meet those opportunities with a variety of creative and innovative solutions, which typically save money and build profitability,” said Lori Munkeboe, director of TDEC’s Office of Environmental Assistance.  “This series of workshops is an important opportunity for local businesses to share best practices.”

The roster of presenters includes workshop hosts Standard Aero Alliance, GM Spring Hill and the Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce. Other noteworthy workshop presenters include representatives from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Nissan North America, Mars Petcare, the Tennessee Environmental Council and Rhodes College.

In addition to sharing ideas and best practices, participants will learn about cutting-edge topics, encourage action and provide practical applications.  The meetings are ideal for local businesses not currently part of the program, as it is an opportunity to learn from several successful TP3 partners and other well-known leaders and industries with a proven track record that pollution prevention can be profitable.

Other workshop discussions will include waste reduction resources, and energy and water conservation.  Each workshop will include a networking “meet and greet” continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by a complimentary boxed lunch.   The workshops are free but advanced registration is required to ensure adequate materials are available.  Participants may register online at www.bartlettchamber.org/content/TP3_Regional_Workshop.shtml.

The TP3 program celebrates 11 years as an environmental network and leadership program.  Through leadership and outreach activities, TP3 members work to encourage, inspire and assist others in developing and implementing ideas, policies and practices to progress through the TP3 membership levels: Prospect, Pledge, Partner and Performer.
