THP Seeks Public Assistance to Identify Burglary Suspects

NASHVILLE--- The Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects involved in a burglary at the Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s Driver Service Center at 3200 East Shelby Drive in Memphis. The Memphis Police Department Burglary Squad is also investigating.
 
On Friday, July 22, 2011, investigators believe two suspects used a rock to break the glass on the entrance door of the East Shelby Drive driver license station at approximately 1:30 a.m.  Wearing dark clothing, full face masks and toboggan-styled hoods, the suspects destroyed a safe and stole an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency before fleeing the building. The perpetrators also vandalized the state’s driver service center.  
 
Anyone with information that might assist investigators is urged to contact the THP Criminal Investigations Division at 731-668-9644. Information can also be provided anonymously to Memphis Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH (2274), submitted online at http://www.528cash.org or by texting 274637 (CRIMES), with the message “AWARD”.  If an arrest is made, a reward may be available from Crime Stoppers of Memphis and Shelby County, Inc.
