First Lady Crissy Haslam joins farmers and young students for an educational event

NASHVILLE –First Lady Crissy Haslam joined the Robertson County Farm Bureau, local farmers, and approximately 175 third graders for an Ag Literacy workshop in Springfield on Thursday. Farm Days is a two-day event to educate young children about farm life by giving them hands-on experiences and agriculture education materials.

The Robertson County Farm Bureau is committed to helping educate students about farm life by providing teachers with Ag Literacy resources sponsored by the Tennessee Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. This program offers a variety of classroom supplemental curriculum materials for teachers and students in grades K-12.

The event is sponsored in part by the Robertson County Farm Bureau Women, who are actively involved with the Agriculture in the Classroom program, farm day tours for local school children, and various opportunities to promote agriculture.

“Agriculture is an important industry in Tennessee, and we’re very proud of our farmers and ranchers,” said Mrs. Haslam.  “This is a great opportunity for young students to learn that their food doesn’t just come from the grocery store shelves.”
