NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will present new information about a variety of topics with three featured speakers in a TWRA Road Show presentation to be held in Paris on Tuesday, Sept. 27 in Paris at the Krider Performing Arts Center. The program begins at 7 p.m.

The featured speakers for TWRA’s road show will be Bobby Wilson, Fisheries Division Chief, who will give an update on a variety of fish management with emphasis on the Asian carp, an invasive species which poses a threat to our state’s waters.

The Asian carp are comprised of a variety of subspecies including the big head and silver carp that are showing up in Kentucky and Barkley lakes. The invasive species are a concern for commercial and sport fishermen and boaters.

Wilson will speak about the problem and inform anglers and other lake users what is ahead for TWRA to battle the challenges that the Asian carp presents.

Don King, Chief of TWRA’s Information and Education Division will talk about some of the programs the agency currently has underway. One of the programs is the upcoming promotional campaign involving country music artist Darryl Worley, a West Tennessee native.

The special guest will be biologist Don McKenzie. He will speak about the effort of the National Bobwhite Conservation Initiative and the benefit it offers to landowners. Restoration of the bobwhite quail population is recognized as one of today’s most difficult wildlife conservation challenges.

Agency officials are looking forward to making the trip to Paris for the presentation. The TWRA has held similar road show presentations in Middle and East Tennessee where sportsmen and wildlife enthusiasts learned more about the wildlife agency and some of its programs.

“As an agency, we welcome the opportunity to visit different communities and get the message out about the TWRA and is diversity of programs and services,” said King. “We are all looking forward to making the trip to Paris.”

There are no reservations required for the event. The Krider Performing Arts Center is located at 650 Volunteer Drive in Paris.
