Tennessee Forestry Commission to Meet Oct. 16 - 17

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Forestry Commission will meet Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT in the Bruer Building conference room at Ellington Agricultural Center, located at 440 Hogan Road in Nashville.

The commission will conduct interviews with applicants for the vacant State Forester/Assistant Commissioner position, which is responsible for planning, directing and implementing programs and services of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry.

The commission will resume interviews on Oct. 17 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a business meeting at 1:30 p.m. The agenda includes a review and approval of previous meeting minutes, an update on environmentally-friendly building standards and a review of the commission’s annual report. The commission is also expected to recommend three interview candidates for consideration for appointment by the governor. 

The meeting is open to the public. Individuals interested in addressing the commission should plan to arrive prior to the start of the business meeting on Oct. 17 in order to be placed on the agenda. 

The Tennessee Forestry Commission comprises seven members representing the public’s interests as it relates to forest resources in the state. The commission advises the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry on forest resource issues. For more information, contact the TDA Division of Forestry at 615-837-5520.
