TENNESSEE HOSTS 1ST ANNUAL “TENNESSEE WOMEN’S VETERANS SUMMIT”

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder announced the state’s 1st Annual “Tennessee Women Veterans Summit” on April 28th, 2012.    

“We want to ensure that the women in Tennessee, whose service and commitment established a legacy of honor and sacrifice, are made aware of benefits and entitlements for which they may qualify, including gender-specific services.” Grinder said.

The event will be held April 28th, 2012 at the Embassy Suites Hotels in Nashville, TN. Registration fees are $35.00, but those who register before March 1, 2012 will save $10.00 off summit registration and be placed in a drawing to win several prizes such as gift cards from various stores.

Guest speakers will provide information, motivation and tools for these women to continue their personal development, and the event will provide a rare opportunity for the Women Veterans of Tennessee to network with one another. 

At this year’s summit, the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs will being awarding the 1st Woman Veteran of the Year Award to recognize a Honorably Discharged Veteran who has demonstrated exemplary service as a military service member and an outstanding member of the community. Nominations for the award should be submitted to the Women Veterans Coordination Committee by the end of March 30, 2012.

-  Valuable information from women’s healthcare professionals, VA benefits specialists and financial specialists.

-  Discounted Hotel Rooms

-  Free Child Care

“Some of these Veterans from WWII and other war eras helped pave the way and break glass ceilings for those who are serving our country today.” Commissioner Grinder said. Partnership with the U.S. Veterans Affairs, The Tennessee National Guard and the Women Veterans of America will promise a productive Summit for our deserving Veterans.”
