Special Traffic Alert - Sevier County

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – As Phase 2 of the Improving 66 construction project moves forward, motorists should be aware of the following temporary road closures:
 
On Monday, April 9th at 12:01 a.m. crews will close SR-139W (Douglas Dam Road) between Piney Road and SR-66 to place the required fill and base stone to bring this side road up to proposed grade. The suggested detour is access SR-139W from SR-66 to West Mount Road to SR-139W.
 
Also on Monday, April 9th at 12:01 a.m. crews will close SR-139E (Douglas Dam Road) between Bryan Lane and SR-66 to excavate this side road down to proposed grade. The suggested detour is access SR-139E from SR-66 to SR-338E (Douglas Dam Road) to SR-139E.
 

 

Both of these side roads will be reopened by 6:00 a.m. Friday, April 13th. Motorists should allow for additional time to access these side roads and follow the signed detours.

Short duration traffic stops in both directions along SR-66 may occur daily Monday through Friday through this project for utility crossings and movement of equipment and materials. Motorists should expect potential delays and use extreme caution traveling through this area.
