KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The collapse of a section of embankment has closed one lane of Interstate 75 South in Campbell County. The earth slide occurred just after 1:00 p.m. today on I-75 South at Mile Marker 143, which is located near the Stinking Creek Road Exit. The inside lane on I-75 Southbound remains open.

TDOT Maintenance crews are installing concrete barrier walls as a safety precaution. TDOT geotechnical engineers have also been on site to assess the slide.

There is no timetable for when the outside lane will re-open.

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through this area and expect delays. US 25W (SR 9) can be used as an alternate route around the impacted area.
